From time to time, we get asked if we can provide bible study helps, materials, resources, etc., which can be used for group, or individual study. Unfortunately, due to the design of our blog we can’t provide any extensive studies at this time. However, we can provide bible study material in an extended serial format that allows us to break-up topics into smaller, yet enriching portions for you!
In fact, you might already be familiar with some of our bible studies that follow this format, such as: Saturday Scripture Gold with Bibi and Bible Study Snacks, among others. We believe that this type of study is ideal for those who wish to conduct weekly studies, or classes. Another nice thing about this design is that it allows anyone to freely add to, or modify the material to suit their specific needs.
We hope that you enjoy these materials and that they will inspire you to pursue more in-depth studies on your own. Use them to grow and prosper spiritually in name of our Lord, Jesus Christ!
Today, as a good starting point for study, we shall take a look at some basic doctrinal facts about the Bible. Although the study was written using the King James Version (KJV) bible, feel free to use the translation with which you feel most comfortable. As you will see, the study is very simple and the answers are always found in the Bible verse(s) given. I encourage you to look at the verse(s), even if you think you already know what it says.
Let’s start with the Names of the Bible. Just as we learn about God from the Names that are given to describe Him, similarly we learn about the Bible from its various names. Here are some of them:
1. The _____ of _____ (Hebrews 4:12). The Bible is just not man's book filled with man's ideas, thoughts, or personal opinions. It is God's Word. God is the Author of this amazing Book. (Compare Romans 10:17)
2. The _____ of _____ (2 Timothy 2:15). This Book is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It is completely trustworthy. There are no mistakes, no errors, no contradictions. If it is God's Word, how can it contain error.
3. The _____ of _____ (Philippians 2:16). The Bible is a "LIVING" Book (see Hebrews 4:12 where God's Word is said to be "quick" or "living"). When the message of the Bible is understood and believed, then lives are changed (2 Corinthians 5:17). The person who believes in the Christ of the Bible has everlasting _____ (John 6:47).
4. The _____ __________ (Romans 1:2). The word "Scriptures" means "writings" and th word "holy" means that these writings are different and set apart from other writings. There is no other book like the Bible. The Bible is totally unique. It is the only book God has given to us. One man said, "I beleive the Bible from cover to cover and I believe the cover because it says 'Holy Bible'". May we ever treat God's Word with utmost respect and reverence (see Isaiah 66:1-2).
The next time we meet, we shall pick up our doctrinal study of the Bible with: The Testimony of Christ. Until then, may God's Word dwell in your heart richly! (Colossians 3:16)
Prayer:
May the grace of Christ our Savior,
And the Father's boundless love,
With the Holy Spirit's favor,
Rest upon us from above.
Thus may we abide in union
With each other and the Lord,
And possess, in sweet communion,
Joys which earth cannot afford.
Amen.
May God bless you,
Yvette
