"Why are there so many anxious hearts, so much unrest, so many discontentments and fears? It is because man is attempting to direct his own way. He feels his weakness — and fears; he knows his ignorance — and becomes anxious. How blessed to walk out upon life's way trusting in God and casting every care upon him!" -Charles Ebert Orr
"When you trust in God it will make a huge difference in your life." How many times have you heard this in your life? Then again, why have so many of us not followed this advice? What's keeping you stuck in the same rut, making the same mistakes, and missing out on a better life? Could it be that maybe you don't trust in God?
We could define trust as: to abide and rest inside the goodness of God; protected, embraced, and surrounded by His compassion and favor. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." You either give Him all your trust or none at all. Half-hearted trust is just like wholehearted doubt.
Did you ever ask yourself why you don’t give God your complete trust? Has He ever given you a reason not to trust Him? Think about yourself as a parent raising a child, especially a teenager. You want to trust them, but if they give you any reason not to (like when you catch them lying to you, for example), then it makes it difficult to trust them.
But, God never has (or will) never let you down. He has never forsaken (or will) mislead you. So, we should be confident that He is only after our best interest (even though you might not understand His will), and we should be able to give Him our full trust.
Subsequently, we need to look for His guidance in everything. Always keep God in mind. Ask yourself: What would He want you to do? How would He handle it? How would our lives be changed if only we would see what He wants in all aspects in life? Sometimes we get confused about bringing the "little" things to God. We think that He only wants to be bothered in the "big" decisions in life.
Look, here's what God wants us to do. He wants us to sign a blank contract, and then let Him fill in the blanks. I know what you're thinking..."Wait a minute. No one would sign a blank contract!" In our lives here, we might not always understand the contract, but we act like we do, and at least read it. You know what I mean.
Nevertheless, God says, "Just you trust in me and give me your life, then I will fill in the blanks!" Do your part, by bringing things to Him, and He will do His, which is directing your path. This is a conditional promise. He will not force us to make the right decisions. He created us with free will. We bring it to Him, and then He will in His own time, not ours, direct us.
So how do I know what He is leading me to do? His word, the Bible! He will show us through His word. God’s direction will never be contrary to His instruction found in His word. And, sometimes God will just open and close doors for us.
Trusting God means both, that we wait on Him for guidance and direction and leadership – and it also means that we get going in the direction He points us in. Trusting in God means waiting for His direction, and then starting to head in that direction trusting Him for the power and abilities to get there.
In closing, sometimes in life we get stuck. We get in a rut, we feel like we’re spinning our wheels, we’re discouraged and down and going nowhere. Maybe that's how you feel about your life today – like you're kind of stuck. I know. We've all been there at one time, or another.
If so, think about this – are you stuck because you don’t know where to go, or are you stuck because you do know where to go, but are waiting for something else to happen before heading that direction? If you don’t know where to go, then you need to pray and seek God for guidance, and wait – and let go – and listen. Trust in God. He will lead you. He will show you the way!

Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for today. Please be with those who are in need and guide them on the road they must travel. Amen
Have a blessed day!
